High-Style for Clenched Clutches
6 Oct

The current stormy economic forecast has sent us all into save mode. Nor can we ignore the plethora of blogs and articles about how to get this season’s look for under $100 or on the cheap. However, since we at Fan Clothing already offer most items for under $100, I thought we could do something extra economical: How can we get this season’s look without leaving our closets?
Here’s how: Let’s start with the top. Loose tops or tunics have been in fashion for what seems like ages now. Every girl probably already has a few hanging in her closet. But if somehow you never got one, right now, you can find tunics for $5 or less on many sale racks at big chain stores. But to save money, I suggest just substituting with a plain t-shirt, tank top, or camisole you already own.
If you haven’t noticed, distressed jeans are this season’s choice of denim. But instead of spending money on pre-worn looking jeans, you can do it yourself. You can wear the ones in your closet that already look the part from years of service, or grab an old pair you don’t mind cutting up. All cuts are in style, so don’t worry about old jeans looking dated. We’re wearing everything from skinny to flares to loose-fit boyfriend jeans. Even high waist and tapered jeans are back.

The pincher in this ensemble is the three quarter blazer, which is now all the rage. Every working girl has a suit jacket or two in her closet, even if it only comes out for interviews (now, you remember). Just take that suit blazer and roll up the sleeves until its three quarter length. Voilà $200 saved!!
Now just accessorize with your favorite low waist belt and necklace. What shoes to wear would depend on the jean cut you’ve chosen. For my flares, I wear boots.
